We left South Dakota and headed out to Wyoming. On the way out we had an opportunity to see Tatanka (the Kevin Costner museum dedicated to bison and the Native Americans, with statues of "jumping") and Deadwood (only city in US where all houses are listed on the Historical register - lots of gambling there, Chas and Eleanor would love it there!).
We stayed at Devils Tower for the night. They filmed Close Encounters (directed by Steven Spielberg) at the campground we were at. They even showed the movie at night! Check out the pics of the view from our tent. Unfortunately it started raining right after we went to bed and was really windy. I thought for sure our tent might blow away.

I don't know why, but I still haven't seen that movie. The view from your tent is fantastic! How far are you from the formation?
Hmmm. Good question. I only understand city blocks. Maybe 5-7 blocks away....pretty close though. A lot closer than the pic shows.
